Congratulations to the 45 juniors and seniors who were inducted into the National Honor Society during a candle-lighting ceremony, held October 18.
The ceremony began with a performance by the Beachwood High School orchestra. Assistant Principal Aubrei Erkins and Jacob Goldman, NHS chapter president, then offered their opening remarks. Honor Society members Allie Berns, Nina Mayers, Luke Jennings-Sanders, and Sarah Berns spoke about the significance of the four pillars: scholarship, service, leadership, and character.
Inductees stepped forward to light a candle, symbolizing their commitment to uphold these pillars, and together, they recited the pledge of induction. Dr. James Sulzer and honor society advisor Dr. Casey Matthews concluded the ceremony with their words of encouragement and inspiration.
To qualify for the Beachwood Honor Society, students must achieve a minimum 3.7 GPA out of 4.0 and complete 70 hours of community service, in addition to exhibiting commendable character and leadership skills.
