Bison Staff Spotlight: Danny MacVeigh

February 24, 2023

Walk through the halls of Beachwood Middle School, and you can easily see that the facilities are a clean, healthy, and inviting place for teaching and learning. That’s thanks to the dedication and hard work of the four-member custodial team led by Head Custodian Danny MacVeigh.

Mr. MacVeigh is this week’s Bison Staff Spotlight. Throughout his 25 years in the District, he has been committed to delivering outstanding services and running a well-maintained building. Mr. MacVeigh spent most of his career with Beachwood Schools at the high school and Fairmount buildings, working the evening and overnight shifts. Two years ago, he was hired as head custodian at the middle school, where he enjoys getting to know students during the bustling school day. Staff and students know him as loyal, warm-hearted, and hard working.

“I feel blessed because I have the greatest custodial crew,” said Mr. MacVeigh. “None of this is possible without the team.”

A natural leader, Mr. MacVeigh creates a culture of collaboration with his crew. “I always say ‘us, we, and ours,’” he said. “It takes all of us to accomplish this and create a beautiful building.”

Outside of work, Mr. MacVeigh enjoys spending time with his family, including two grandchildren ages 10 and 11. He keeps up with their busy sports schedules as the boys compete on football, wrestling, and baseball teams. Active in the outdoors, Mr. MacVeigh also enjoys playing golf, camping, and swimming.
