Beachwood Board of Education Approves Two Resolutions on Elementary Facilities Master Plan

December 20, 2022

The Beachwood Board of Education passed two resolutions 5-0 needed to move the elementary facilities master plan forward at a special meeting on Thursday, December 15.

The Board voted to approve the master plan to construct two new elementary facilities—one at Bryden Elementary for grades Kindergarten through 2 and another at Hilltop Elementary for grades 3 through 5—and updates to the Fairmount Early Childhood Center’s prekindergarten facilities. Read the full resolution.

“I am confident that this plan will situate the District well and meet the needs of students for many decades to come,” stated Board president Megan Walsh.

The Board also unanimously approved a resolution of necessity to start the process of putting a bond issue on the May 2023 ballot. The principal amount of the bond is $65 million to be paid over a maximum of 37 years, dated approximately August 1, 2023, with an estimated 5.25% interest rate per year, payable semiannually. Read the full resolution

On Tuesday, January 10, the Board will have another opportunity to vote to proceed with the bond issue. If approved, the information will be sent to the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections for placement on the May ballot.
