This week’s Bison Staff Spotlight features Aubrei Erkins, assistant principal at Beachwood High School. Ms. Erkins is known as a creative problem solver and compassionate leader who builds long-lasting relationships with students and families. She joined Beachwood Schools in 2021, bringing 14 years experience as a middle and high school teacher and athletic director.
“As a teacher, I knew I wanted to get into leadership,” said Ms. Erkins. She jumped at the opportunity to interview for the assistant principal position in Beachwood, despite being on the mend from foot surgery.
After the interview, Superintendent Robert Hardis helped her hobble back to her car, where her father was waiting to drive her home. This act of kindness and genuine concern from the District’s superintendent gave her insight into the caring culture in Beachwood Schools.
“I knew then this is where I want to be,” she said.
Her favorite part of working in Beachwood Schools is the community.
“The community comes together to support the schools,” she said. “It makes my journey even better.”
Ms. Erkins is a regular fixture at school and community events where she loves mingling with students and families and introducing them to her two daughters, ages 5 and 7.
“Working in Beachwood Schools, it has to be more than a job,” she said. “It has to be a passion.”
