This week’s Bison Staff Spotlight features a familiar face throughout the District: Moisés Calderón, a computer technician in Beachwood’s IT department. Mr. Calderón is known for his patience, strong problem-solving skills, and friendly nature - three essential qualities for a career in educational technology.
“I enjoy meeting people and establishing relationships in all the different schools,” said Mr. Calderón.
He joined Beachwood Schools in 2005 as an office assistant at Hilltop Elementary, where students knew him as “Mr. C” and gravitated to his caring personality and easy smile.
“I prefer to be at peace with everyone and create an environment that is friendly,” he said.
As technology became increasingly integrated into classroom learning, a position opened in the IT department. Mr. Calderón, who had been taking courses on networking and developing his 3D design skills, jumped at the opportunity.
“I’ve always been mechanically and technologically inclined,” he said.
In his new role, Mr. Calderón enjoys the teamwork and camaraderie of the IT department. “We have a good relationship,” he said. “I’m glad I’m here.”
Outside of work, he unwinds by drawing and spending time with his family. Mr. Calderón has two children, ages 13 and 15, and enjoys attending their soccer and volleyball games.
