ESC Honors Outstanding Students, Educators

The Educational Service Center of Northeast Ohio honored eleventh grader Dalya Berezovsky and Beachwood Middle School intervention specialist Meg Miller for their outstanding service in the community during an award ceremony held May 12. 


Dalya was nominated for her academic achievement, leadership, and character. Ms. Miller was nominated for her exemplary teaching and creative programming to help students with disabilities reach their full potential. Beachwood Schools warmly congratulates Dalya and Ms. Miller for using their gifts to make the world a better place!

Dalya Berezovsky, Eleventh Grade, Beachwood High School

Dalya, a 17-year-old junior at Beachwood High School, is the absolute definition of sweetness and kindness. She truly wants to do her best academically and make a difference in the world. Dalya is a leader within the classroom. She is a great role model to other students as she is a rule follower, consistently tries her best, is polite and respectful, and willing to help everyone. She overcomes adversity with grace and helps others feel comfortable and confident in themselves as well. Dalya is always willing to help others whether it be within her classroom, her school, or the Beachwood community as well as working on making a difference across the country. Dalya and her mother run a nonprofit organization called Sweet Dreams for Kids. This organization provides pajamas to children who are in the hospital. Dalya and her organization have donated nearly 20, 000 pairs of new pajamas to children's hospitals around the country. Dalya has consistently demonstrated perseverance throughout all she has experienced to do her best in and out of the classroom. 


Meg Miller, Intervention Specialist, Beachwood Middle School

Beachwood Schools is proud to nominate Meg Miller for this year’s award. Ms. Miller’s daily interactions with her students show how deeply she cares about and believes in them. She works to understand each student individually as a whole person, then supports each of them to become the best version of themselves. She helps all her students to accept and embrace each other and creates a positive and welcoming environment for everyone. The love the students have for one another and for Ms. Miller is palpable when you enter their space. Ms. Miller is a great leader, always coordinating her support and accommodations in general education settings to the point that all students meaningfully benefit from those experiences. Ms. Miller is extremely deserving of this award, and Beachwood is fortunate to haver her as part of the team!
