Announcing the Bison Opportunity Fund

July 21, 2023

Beachwood Schools announces the formation of the Bison Opportunity Fund in honor of retiring treasurer Michele Mills and her legacy of public service to the Beachwood community.

“During Ms. Mills’ 35-year tenure in Beachwood Schools, she was unwavering in her determination to ensure ALL Beachwood students had the fantastic opportunities our district offers,” stated Dr. Robert P. Hardis, superintendent, in a message to the Beachwood school community.

The Bison Opportunity Fund will supply each school with snacks and school supplies for staff to distribute to students in need; provide “like new” Bison apparel; and support students’ participation in extracurricular travel, course fees, and prom tickets that families may not be able to afford.

Beachwood Schools will begin collecting donations for the Bison Opportunity Fund at its back-to-school celebration on Sunday, August 20, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Beachwood High School (25100 Fairmount Blvd.)

Families are encouraged to bring:
  • Non-perishable, individually packaged snacks such as granola bars, raisins, and pretzels;

  • New school supplies;

  • Clean, “like new” Bison apparel of all sizes and designs (please no tears, stains, etc…);

  • Cash or credit card donations to the “Bison Opportunity Fund.” Make an online donation.

Dr. Hardis stated, “Help us honor the legacy of Treasurer Michele Mills and help every Beachwood student start the 2023-2024 school year ready to learn and feeling like an important member of our incredible community.”
