Bryden's New Principal

Beachwood welcomes new elementary principal

June 17, 2022

The Beachwood Board of Education has approved the hiring of Arianna DeGeorge as the new principal of Bryden Elementary and the Fairmount Early Childhood Center. DeGeorge replaces Sherry Miller, who retires this month after 30 years in education.

“I am beyond thrilled to be joining the Bryden and Fairmount communities,” said DeGeorge. “School is truly an extension of family, and I am here to ensure our students feel safe, welcomed and loved for who they are. It is a true honor for me to join this incredible team.”

Since 2014, DeGeorge has served as principal of Perry Elementary School. Previously, she worked in the Maple Heights City School District as a kindergarten and first-grade teacher before becoming a principal liaison to the John F. Kennedy and Barack Obama elementary schools.

As a teacher, DeGeorge’s leadership potential led to a nomination to participate in the First Ring Leadership Academy, a year-long development program for new and aspiring administrators in greater Cleveland. This experience inspired DeGeorge’s decision to become a principal.

“As much as I loved teaching,” she said, “I realized that becoming a principal would allow me to serve in a connector role for students, staff and parents for an entire building.”

DeGeorge knew she wanted to pursue a career in education from an early age. Her mother is a retired teacher, and her father is a psychologist. As a child, she enjoyed visiting her mother’s classroom and working at community events with her father.

“I was able to gain experiences from my parents on both the academic and social-emotional side, which I was really lucky to have,” she said.

DeGeorge earned her bachelor of science degree early childhood education in 2007 from Kent State University. She also holds a master’s degree in educational administration from Ashland University. In her spare time, DeGeorge enjoys taking her French bulldog Stella to parks, kayaking on Lake Erie and spending time with her niece and two nephews.
