Our Bison Staff Spotlight this week features Beachwood Choral Director Darlene Haight. Throughout her 31 years with the district, Ms. Haight has been most fulfilled by letting students’ creativity shine and encouraging their self expression.
“I love meeting students where they are, building upon their talents and watching them grow,” she said.
As choral director, Ms. Haight is passionate about integrating music with other domains, including social-emotional learning and STEAM. Through music, she ignites students’ love of learning while teaching them to persevere and work together.
Ms. Haight looks forward to a fun-filled year of live performances and experiential learning opportunities. Students in grades 1-12 will perform at the 80’s-themed Cabaret Night on December 1. In addition, Ms. Haight is planning field trips to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Playhouse Square.
“I love the creativity that I’m encouraged to do,” she said.
