Power of the Pen Students Advance to State

Two Beachwood Middle School Power of the Pen teams placed at the Regional Tournament in Hudson on March 31, and two seventh graders advanced to the state tournament.

Seventh graders Tabitha Niederer and Molly Rosen took 17th and 18th place overall among all seventh graders, qualifying them for the state tournament that takes place in May.

The seventh grade team claimed 3rd place overall out of 31 schools, while the combined seventh and eighth grade team came in 4th place overall. Team members are:

In February, Rosen took first place to lead Beachwood Middle School's seventh grade team to a fourth place finish overall at the Power of the Pen district tournament. Swathi Srinivasan was awarded 15th place. The Power of the Pen team is coached by BMS teachers Kelley McLaughlin and Julie Ungier.
