Beachwood Schools and City of Beachwood Hosting Third Annual Juneteenth Celebration
BEACHWOOD, OH – Beachwood City Schools, in partnership with the City of Beachwood and with collaboration from the Beachwood Schools African American Affinity Group, will host the third annual Juneteenth celebration on Thursday, June 19, from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Beachwood High School stadium.
The event is free and open to the public and will feature family fun activities for all ages, including games, inflatables, a face painter, balloon twister, roller skating rink, photo booth and food trucks.
The Juneteenth event honors the historical significance of Juneteenth, the day in 1865 when 250,000 enslaved people in Texas were declared free. Juneteenth, which commemorates the end of slavery, is observed with traditions that include family gatherings, community celebrations, music, dance, storytelling, parades, picnics, and readings of the Emancipation Proclamation.
Now in its third year, the Juneteenth celebration has quickly grown into one of the most well-attended events in the city. The event aims to leave a lasting impact on the Beachwood community by celebrating diversity and promoting unity.
