Science Olympiad Teams Compete at State Tournament

BEACHWOOD, OH – The Beachwood High School and Beachwood Middle School Science Olympiad teams recently competed at the 2026 Ohio Science Olympiad State Tournament. The high school team finished fifth overall, while the middle school squad placed 18th.

The high school team earned 15 medals by finishing in the top-five of 15 events. The team was first in Anatomy and Physiology, Disease Detectives, and Experimental Design. They also placed second in Circuit Lab and Codebusters and had a third place showing in Botany. BHS was also fourth in Astronomy, Bungee Drop, and Materials Science, fifth in Engineering CAD, Robot Tour, Rocks and Minerals, Water Quality, and Code Craze, and sixth in Remote Sensing.

At the middle school level, the team earned two medals with fifth place finishes in Crime Busters and Rocks and Minerals.

Science Olympiad is a premier national STEM competition for middle and high school students, involving 23 hands-on team events covering biology, earth science, chemistry, physics, and engineering. Teams compete in regional, state, and national tournaments, fostering teamwork and practical application of science through building devices, laboratory experiments, and academic tests.
