Officer Colton Pekarski Appointed Store It Safe Program Ambassador
The Beachwood Police Department has appointed Officer Colton Pekarski as the Store It Safe Program Ambassador to help educate families and community members about firearm safety and responsible firearm storage practices.
This appointment comes as Beachwood is named Ohio’s first Store It Safe City by the Ohio Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (Ohio AAP). Launched in 2015, the Store It Safe program promotes safe firearm storage through education, advocacy, and community engagement.
As part of this initiative, the City will launch its Store It Safe campaign on Thursday, February 13, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Beachwood Community Center during the February Freeze event. Families are invited to participate in interactive demonstrations on responsible firearm storage, including the use of trigger locks, cable locks, and lock boxes. Local law enforcement and safety experts will be available to answer questions and provide educational materials.
