Joshua Rosenblitt Signs to Play Baseball at Oakland University
Beachwood High School celebrated senior Joshua Rosenblitt’s commitment to continue his baseball career as a pitcher at Oakland University during a signing ceremony on November 12.
Rosenblitt, a standout on and off the field, has left his mark on Beachwood’s baseball program. He tied the school record for most career strikeouts, previously set by Bradley Goldberg, now a pitching coach for the Cleveland Guardians. Rosenblitt is also just one win away from tying Goldberg for the most career wins in Beachwood history and two wins shy of setting a new school record. He has delivered exceptional performances in critical moments, including pitching complete-game shutouts in two Chagrin Valley Conference championship games and throwing a no-hitter in last year’s playoff opener.
During the ceremony, Ryan Peters, director of athletics, highlighted Rosenblitt’s exceptional legacy. “Josh Rosenblitt will go down as one of Beachwood’s best athletes, one of the most accomplished athletes ever to walk these halls,” Peters said.
Peters described Rosenblitt as a “focused and determined” athlete and “one of the best team leaders I’ve seen.” This leadership extends beyond the baseball diamond to the classroom, where Rosenblitt maintains a 4.0 GPA and is a member of the National Honor Society–all while balancing the demands of baseball and his role as goalie for the varsity soccer team.
“Playing baseball at Beachwood has taught me a ton of positive leadership qualities,” said Rosenblitt. “I’m very fortunate to call myself a Bison.”
Strategic Approach
Head baseball coach Matt Lamovec commended Rosenblitt’s strategic approach on the mound, noting his ability to think two or three pitches ahead. “He’s playing chess when the other guys are playing checkers,” Lamovec said.
Before signing his Letter of Intent, Rosenblitt expressed gratitude for the support of his parents, Jessica and Paul Rosenblitt; his sister Madison (class of ‘22); and his coaches and teammates. “Making an impact on Beachwood’s athletics has been a major goal of mine since kindergarten, so seeing the support of the community at the signing ceremony meant a ton to me,” said Rosenblitt in an interview following the event.
Rosenblitt chose Oakland University for its proximity to home and the connection he felt with the coaching staff and team. “The coaches are definitely coaches I see myself playing for, and the team culture is excellent,” he said.
Rosenblitt also shared advice for younger athletes aiming to play at the collegiate level. “Avoid putting too much pressure on yourself,” he said, “but every day wake up and acknowledge there’s a goal at hand that requires a lot of work to get where you want to be.”
