Record 10 Compete at OHSAA Swimming & Diving State Championships

BEACHWOOD, OH - The Beachwood High School boys swimming and diving team placed fourth at the OHSAA Division II State Championship that was contested over the weekend in Canton. The state meet capped the best season in program history with a record 10 student-athletes qualifying to compete in 13 events at the state meet.

This marks the second consecutive year that the boys team finished fourth in the state. The squad also won its seventh straight conference crown and placed second at districts. The girls team won its first conference title in program history.

State championship results:

  • 100 Breast: Derek Fan, State Runner-Up
  • 100 Fly: Derek Fan, 3rd place
  • 200 Medley Relay: Derek Fan, Max Rose, Ben Keyerleber, Colin Elwell, 3rd place
  • 200 Free Relay: Derek Fan, Ben Keyerleber, Colin Elwell, Samuel Park, 4th place
  • 200 Free: Colin Elwell, 6th place
  • 100 Free: Colin Elwell, 8th place
  • 200 IM: Ben Keyerleber, 12th place
  • 400 Free Relay: Samuel Park, Ethan Dong, Nicholas Cheng, Sam Kuenzler, 15th place
  • 100 Breaststroke, Ben Keyerleber, 18th place
  • 200 IM, Flora Fan, 20th place
  • Diving, Alma Saltzman, 21st place
  • 100 Fly, Max Rose, 26th place
  • 200 IM, Ethan Dong, 31st place
