Beachwood Medical Academy Students Explore Careers in Healthcare During Summer Camp

BEACHWOOD, OH - Students in the Beachwood Medical Academy recently participated in a three-day summer healthcare camp, gaining hands-on experiences while exploring a variety of medical careers.

Throughout the program, students engaged in interactive learning opportunities, including lung dissections, CPR training, sports medicine activities, and an up-close look at a medical helicopter.

The camp also included a visit to the Cleveland Food Bank, where students took part in a poverty simulation to better understand the challenges many families face. They also volunteered by packaging approximately 4,500 pounds of potatoes to support the organization's mission of fighting hunger in Northeast Ohio.

The program combined clinical experiences with community service, giving students a broader understanding of both healthcare and the importance of serving others. BHS principal Paul Chase and science teacher Jessica Mitchell attended the program with Director of Curriculum Linda LoGalbo.

The Medical Academy will also have an Anatomy & Physiology Camp with Case Western Reserve.
