Before joining Rocky River, Mr. Murphy served as assistant athletics director for communications at Cleveland State University. He excelled in multimedia storytelling to celebrate student-athletes, engage fans, and elevate the university’s athletic brand. Notable achievements included leading several redesigns of CSUVikings.com, launching the CSU athletics alumni Facebook page, and overseeing live video streaming on ESPN3.

Mr. Murphy’s extensive communications experience also includes roles with Colorado School of Mines, Washington & Lee University, and the Cleveland Browns. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in communications from John Carroll University and is a graduate of St. Ignatius High School.

Mr. Murphy resides in Aurora with his wife Erica and their sons, Keegan and Barrett.

“Thank you to the Board of Education for this opportunity. I am thrilled to join the Beachwood team and look forward to working closely with students, staff, families, and the entire school community,” Mr. Murphy says. “Beachwood has an outstanding reputation, and I am eager to contribute by sharing stories that reflect the district’s values and achievements.”
