Lauren Glazer ('99)
From the moment Lauren Glazer (née Silver) picked up her shiny new flute as a student in the Hilltop band, she quickly realized that music is a powerful tool for bringing people together. So began her lifelong love of music. In high school, she enjoyed exciting the crowd during football and basketball games as both a marching band member and cheerleader. Her fondest memories include band camp and overnight band trips, where she built lasting friendships.
Lauren lives in Solon with her husband, Michael, and two children: Jordan (age 10) and Elana (age 7). She remains a familiar face in Beachwood as her parents, Sandy and Terry Silver (Class of 1970), still reside in town. The Glazer family enjoys attending the Bison football and basketball games. And every year, Lauren dusts off her flute to march with the Homecoming Alumni Marching Band. “Being able to come back and march with the band makes me feel like I am back in high school for the night and brings back lots of fun memories,” said Lauren. “I also love sharing my love for the band with my kids. They look forward to seeing me on the field each year!”
Lauren graduated from Beachwood High School in 1999 and went on to earn a bachelor of science in business administration from Miami University. After college, she moved to Chicago, where she worked for the global transportation services firm C.H. Robinson. As a natural “people person,” Lauren excelled in problem resolution and managed logistics. In 2012, Lauren and Michael relocated to Cleveland. Lauren soon accepted a position as a customer experience specialist at Majestic Steel USA, where she continues to leverage her expertise in customer and carrier logistics. “I love working with customers and helping to make them happy,” said Lauren. “My favorite thing is to help get our material to a customer sooner than they might expect it.
Outside of work, Lauren enjoys spending time with her family and cheering on the Guardians and Cavs! Her advice to current Beachwood students? “Get involved and do as many activities as you can,” she said. “I’m so grateful for my opportunities in band, cheerleading, volleyball, and track and field.”
