Culinary Arts
The Culinary Arts I and II programs offer comprehensive training for high school juniors interested in the food service industry, combining classroom learning with hands-on experience in our public restaurant, the Beachwood Bistro. Culinary I emphasizes basic skills in food preparation, service, and sanitation as students earn ServeSafe Training and Certification. Culinary II advances these skills with the ProStart curriculum, endorsed by the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation. Students learn culinary mathematics, restaurant business management, and marketing. The internship component allows students to work in the food industry for 12.5 hours per week to receive credit and earnings.
Teacher Education & Children's Health
The Teacher Education and Children's Health (T.E.A.C.H.) program equips students with the necessary skills to play an essential role in children's education and health. This two-year program offers high school juniors and seniors a unique chance to teach and care for children across various learning settings. During the first year, the focus is on developing the foundational skills required to work with children, providing students with hands-on engagement opportunities at our laboratory schools. The program's second year broadens these experiences, offering internships involving infants to school-age children and interactions with education professionals. Students are given the chance to pursue the Child Development Associate credential and earn credits towards a degree in Child Development or related fields.
Junior Achievement Marketing
Junior Achievement Marketing is a one year, college-preparatory course for high school seniors interested in studying business, marketing or a related field in college. Marketing provides a hands-on experience for our students in a fun, real-world environment. Students will develop marketing skills outside of the classroom and interact with individuals in the business world by developing and operating their own company. Students will participate in the Junior Achievement Company program.
