Grow Your Own Program

Ursuline Partnership

In 2019 Beachwood Schools approached Ursuline College about partnering to provide an alternative path to initial teacher licensure.  The discussions led to a formal partnership being approved in June 2019. The partnership aims to increase the number of students and non-teaching staff members, pursuing education as a career field.  More specifically Beachwood Schools pursued this partnership to support our Grow Your Own Program, which seeks to support the diversification of teaching staff and administration by increasing the pool of teaching candidates from underrepresented groups. Furthermore, all employees are encouraged to participate in the program as a means of professional growth and development.

Partnership Rules & Description
  • All Beachwood City School district employees who enroll in the MAP program of this partnership will have their tuition discounted by 30%.
  • All MAP classes, except for the Professional Development Seminars I and II and Internship I and II, will be delivered in six-week segments at Beachwood High School.
  • For Beachwood City Schools staff who receive tuition reimbursement, Ursuline College will allow individuals to defer payment where appropriate.
  • All Beachwood participants would need to have employment verified each semester.
Since the start of the program in June 2019, Beachwood Schools has had teachers, coaches, special education assistants, and administrators take advantage of the program.  The partnership has expanded to include Orange, Mayfield, and South Euclid-Lyndhurst.
