DR. BRIAN WEISS

Dr. Brian Weiss, long-time Beachwood Schools volunteer and father of four, has served on the Beachwood Board of Education since 2004. Dr. Weiss, a private practice podiatrist, and his wife, Dawn, are Beachwood High School graduates. Co-chairman of the 2002 levy campaign, Dr. Weiss has served on more than 20 District and building committees, including the 1996 permanent improvement levy citizen team; parent advisory committees for Fairmount, Bryden and Hilltop Schools; search teams for administrative positions including District superintendent and pupil services director; the District's strategic planning committee; and other advisory committees on special education, Blue Ribbon Awards and parent-student-faculty planning. Dr. Weiss has lived in Beachwood for more than 40 years. His trusteeships include The Beachwood Schools Foundation, Beachwood High School Alumni Association, The Up Side of Downs of Greater Cleveland (President), and the Northeast Ohio Academy of Podiatric Medicine (Treasurer). As the parent of a special needs child and a child in the gifted program, he has first-hand knowledge of all ranges of learning styles.
 

MARIA BENNETT

Maria Bennett was elected to the Beachwood Board of Education in November of 2017. Maria brings years of experience to her role on the Board, having served on corporate Boards of Directors for more than 10 years as well as more than 5 years on her alma mater, Miami University's Board and the Beachwood PTO Board. With a BS in Engineering and an MS in Biomedical Engineering, Maria has a long history as an inventor and author, holding more than 25 patents and authoring more than 20 scientific publications. She's secured more than $30 million in state and federal grants and contracts throughout her professional career. In addition to founding a local MedTech pain management company and serving as its President and CEO since 2010, Maria creates the time to give back to both the Beachwood and the broader community. She's been a mentor for more than 20 years to young people in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and MAthematics), providing leadership on education, entrepreneurship and career mentorship. She's a multiple year Room Parent, former Hilltop School PTO representative and just stepped down from her role as PTO Treasurer. Maria is the proud mother of Beachwood students Luke and Kyle and wife of Carl.

Jillian DeLong was elected to the Beachwood School Board of Education in November 2019.    Jillian earned her bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Cleveland State University.   She has been employed by Cuyahoga Community College for ten years.  Jillian worked as a Senior Accountant for the first six years in the Administrative and Finance Department where she gained extensive experience in fiscal responsibility including budget management, reconciliation of accounts, forecasting and variance analysis, and GASB reporting and compliance.    Four years ago, she transitioned to the Manager of College Assets and Mail Operations in the Capital & Construction Department.   In this role she has overseen a multitude of projects that require collaboration with both the academic side and administrative side of the school.    Jillian is currently managing Capital & Construction projects that exceed $40 million dollars that was part of the College’s most recent Capital Bond Levy of $227 million dollars.  She is an active member of the community serving as a volunteer for the PTO, Beachwood Girl Scout Daisy Troop, and is a member of the Citizen Finance Committee.   Jillian and her husband, Daniel Small, have two children, Oliver and Ellie, in the Beachwood Schools.

JOSHUA MINTZ

Joshua Mintz was elected to the Beachwood Board of Education in 2011. A 1993 graduate of Beachwood High School he went on to receive a bachelor’s degree in education from Lynn University in Boca Raton, Fla. He is a very active volunteer and supporter of a number of Beachwood’s schools and community programs. The Beachwood Boosters, Beachwood Schools Foundation, various parent advisory boards and the Beachwood 100 are among some of the committees/boards that he continues to serve. Mr. Mintz also serves on the board of InMotion, a wellness community for Parkinson’s and other movement disorders. Mr. Mintz is the owner and operator of commercial real estate. He is married to Elana and has two children, Izzie and Drew in the Beachwood Schools.

MEGAN WALSH

Megan Walsh was appointed to the Beachwood Board of Education in January 2019 and elected in 2020. Megan earned a Master of Science in Social Administration from Case Western Reserve University with a Children, Youth & Families concentration and School Social Work certificate after completing a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a business certificate at Indiana University-Bloomington. She is a Licensed Independent Social Worker-Supervisor with 10 years of direct service experience with families living in the city of Cleveland. In her current role as the MomsFirst Deputy Project Director at the Cleveland Department of Public Health, Megan’s work focuses on closing the racial disparity in infant mortality through dismantling systemic racism and providing supportive home visiting for pregnant women. Creating change and building relationships is also a personal passion. Megan serves on the board of Daily Dose of Reading, an early literacy program designed to close the achievement gap and serves as a College Now mentor for a first generation college student. Megan and her husband, Brandon, moved to Beachwood in 2013 and have two sons, Nolan and Cooper, in the Beachwood Schools.
