Generally considered one of Ohio's finest
suburban settings, the 6-square-mile City of Beachwood takes great
pride in being a blue-chip business center, a thriving commercial and
shopping area, a center for world-class medical care, and a national
leader
in technology.
Home to 5,500 families, more than 3,000 businesses and a major
retail center housing Saks 5th Avenue and Nordstrom, Beachwood
attracts more than 100,000 people every day for business, health care,
shopping or entertainment purposes. Land values are among the highest
in the county.
The success-oriented residents of Beachwood are
predominantly well-educated professionals (51 percent hold bachelor's
degrees or higher) who understand the value of education and expect
excellence in their children's schools. Thirty percent of the children
enrolled in Beachwood City Schools have parents who are alumni; many
have grandparents who are active community members.
Beachwood enjoys what is called a "golden triangle"
partnership between the City government, the School District and the
Chamber of Commerce, ensuring long-term stability and cooperative
strategic planning. The School District has never failed a tax levy in
its history; the most recent levy (in 2005) passed by 68 percent.
The newest additions to the community are a Community Center, a
park with 1.6 miles of multi-purpose trails, a $5 million Family
Aquatic Center, and a $15 million state-of-the-art Middle School.
