Science meets "The Sound of Music"

Students created their own musical instruments and learned a lot more about pitch, volume and the history of their replicated instrument.  Click below (left hand side) and watch our videos!

Happy Thanksgiving! Look at what we are thankful for!

What will we study this year?

We are going to have an exciting year in science.  As a fifth grader, in our first unit, you will be studying our Universe (the Earth, Moon and Sun relationship). Then we will learn about light, color and sound.  After those units, we'll study electricity.  I know you'll have lots of fun with this unit. This is the unit that we make flashlights! We'll end the year studying ecosystems.

Guess what Mrs. Lewis's favorite animal is!!
You'll see them all over the room!
Science
Our Astronomy Research

Currently, we are researching five early astronomers.  We are learning what they thought about the universe hundreds of years ago.  The astronomers we are researching are:  Ptolomey, Copernicus, Galileo, Newton, and Brahe.  After our research, we will create a poster with information and pictures of the astronomer.  Then, we will teach the class about the astronomer we researched.  Click on the links on the left of my page in order to view our research on early astronomers.
Third Grade Buddies
Meeting with our Third Grade Buddies

We had our second lunch with our third grade buddies. We talked and laughed together.  It is fun to be the oldest kids in the school!  It's nice to have the third graders look up to us.  We will try to meet with our buddies each month.  Click on the link to the left and look at how much fun we had eating pizza lunch with our new friends.
