Welcome!
Bryden Elementary School Physical Education

Overview of Physical Education

Welcome to the wonderful world of Physical Education at Bryden Elementary School.  Physical Education is the phase of your child's education that contributes, primarily through movement experiences, to the total growth and development of each child.

The first goal of our Physical education experience is to have each child develop a competency in physical skills concentrating on locomotor skills (i.e.- running, walking, skipping, galloping, hopping), and manipulative skills (i.e.- striking, catching kicking, throwing, rolling).  These skills  will be applied during games, dance, challenges and educational gymnastics.

The second goal is to incorporate fitness into each and every unit so that fitness becomes a part of the child's everyday life.  A healthy active child becomes a healthy active adult.

The third goal is to have each child understand the value of being physically active.  Each child, through physical activity, could develop a positive self image, acquire social skills needed to interact with other children and learn how being active can relieve tension and stress.

Physical Education is a fun, active learning experience.  We will juggle, roll, jump, dance, run, throw, hop, gallop, bend, twist, dodge, catch, push, pull, carry, lift, bounce and lots and lots more!  We work very hard at creating a cooperative environment where we help each other and work as a team.  We play for fun and everyone is a winner!

JRFH EVENT

Our Jump Rope for Heart Event starts this week.  Students will be jumping in teams, for 70 minutes.  We are working on raising donations for young children through the American Heart Association.
Tennis Shoes are required every day for PE.

Please make sure your child has their tennis shoes for PE every day.  Also, please make sure they are not wearing tights, dresses or skirts.  We do a lot of movement!
