The Beachwood Board of Education meets in regularly scheduled meetings on the second and fourth Monday of each month at 7:30 pm, in the Fairmount Community Room, 24601 Fairmount Boulevard, Beachwood, Ohio.

2nd Term (2010)

Mitch Luxenburg is a 1989 Beachwood High School graduate. He began his service on the Beachwood Board of Education in 2010 and served as Vice President from 2011-2013. Mr. Luxenburg earned a Bachelor of Business Administration (’94) and a Master of Business Administration (’97) from Kent State University. Further, he earned a Juris Doctorate from The University of Akron School of Law (’99). While at Kent State, Mr. Luxenburg was appointed by the Governor of Ohio to serve as one of two student members of the Kent State University Board of Trustees (’94-’96). During his tenure, Luxenburg worked closely with administrators and board members on the development and implementation of a five-year strategic plan, and served on various ad hoc committees dealing with issues ranging from the 25th anniversary of the 1970 riot to the recruitment and hiring of key administrators, to the review and approval of KSU’s $250 million budget. Mr. Luxenburg's law firm is based in Beachwood. His firm's focus is in consumer protection litigation and he practices in Ohio, Maryland and North Carolina. He is also the founder and president of The Tricia Luxenburg Memorial Scholarship Foundation, an organization that awards scholarships to students pursuing a degree in education. Most importantly, he is the proud father of four school-age children who all attend Beachwood: Max, Miranda, Ethan and Lauren.

1st Term (2014)

Michael Zawatsky was elected to the Beachwood Board of Education in 2013. A long-time Beachwood resident and Beachwood Schools volunteer, Zawatsky is the managing director and chief operations officer of The Oasis Asset Management Group, a wealth management firm at which he also acts as a financial advisor. He earned a bachelor of science degree in business administration from The Ohio State University, graduating Summa Cum Laude with three separate major areas of study. He has earned various industry-related designations, including chartered retirement planning counselor, chartered retirement plans specialist, and certified financial educator. Zawatsky serves on the boards of Career Transition Center and M-tech, a safety company. He is also president of the Lake Erie Chapter of The Society for Financial Awareness, volunteers for Junior Achievement, and has coached his children in a variety of sports. Michael and his wife Jodi Cohen Zawatsky, a Beachwood graduate, have three children: Samantha, Jordyn and Brett.

4th Term (2004)

Dr. Brian Weiss, long-time Beachwood Schools volunteer and father of four, has served on the Beachwood Board of Education since 2004. Dr. Weiss, a private practice podiatrist, and his wife, Dawn, are Beachwood High School graduates. Co-chairman of the 2002 levy campaign, Dr. Weiss has served on more than 20 District and building committees, including the 1996 permanent improvement levy citizen team; parent advisory committees for Fairmount, Bryden and Hilltop Schools; search teams for administrative positions including District superintendent and pupil services director; the District's strategic planning committee; and other advisory committees on special education, Blue Ribbon Awards and parent-student-faculty planning. Dr. Weiss has lived in Beachwood for more than 40 years. His trusteeships include The Beachwood Schools Foundation, Beachwood High School Alumni Association, The Up Side of Downs of Greater Cleveland (President), and the Northeast Ohio Academy of Podiatric Medicine (Treasurer). As the parent of a special needs child and a child in the gifted program, he has first-hand knowledge of all ranges of learning styles.
2nd Term (2012)

Joshua Mintz was elected to the Beachwood Board of Education in 2011. A 1993 graduate of Beachwood High School he went on to receive a bachelor’s degree in education from Lynn University in Boca Raton, Fla. He is a very active volunteer and supporter of a number of Beachwood’s schools and community programs. The Beachwood Boosters, Beachwood Schools Foundation, various parent advisory boards and the Beachwood 100 are among some of the committees/boards that he continues to serve. Mr. Mintz also serves on the board of InMotion, a wellness community for Parkinson’s and other movement disorders. Mr. Mintz is the owner and operator of commercial real estate. He is married to Elana and has two children, Izzie and Drew in the Beachwood Schools.
2nd Term (2012)

Steve Rosen was elected to the Beachwood Board of Education in 2011. He has volunteered in Beachwood schools on a regular basis since 2002. Mr. Rosen’s involvement includes in-school activities as well as extra-curricular programs. The father of two school age daughters, Mr. Rosen has a passion for education as well as a focus on the continuous improvement of the district. Mr. Rosen is the owner of Business Sounds On Hold, a Beachwood based national company specializing in custom music and message on hold programs and additionally serves as a Business Consultant with First Data, a global leader in commerce-enabling technology and solutions . In addition, Mr. Rosen is the Scholarship Chairman of the OSBA Black Caucus, serves on the board of directors of Effective Leadership Academy, and has been published in numerous publications. He is married to Beachwood High School graduate Debbie Berusch Rosen (1982). Mr. Rosen attended Broward Community College, as well as the University of Georgia.
