Hi, My name is Kim Nowak and I have been the Physical
Education teacher at Bryden for 26 years.
When I first started at Beachwood, I was a Health and Physical Education
Teacher at the High School. After
3 years, I moved to Bryden and have made it my home ever since.
I attended Bowling Green University for my Bachelors
Degree and received my Masters at Cleveland State University. There are 12 teachers in my family and
7 of them are/were Physical Education Teachers. I come from a football family where 6 of my uncles
(including my dad) played college football. One of my uncles made it to the pro’s and played for the
Cleveland Browns the year they won the championship, 1964.
I am married and have 3 children. Samantha is a Junior at The University of Dayton. Derrick is a Freshman at Duke University. And then there is Danielle who is in seventh grade at Brecksville/Broadview Hts. Middle School. We also have a cat
named Emmie.
Some facts about me: my favorite color is orange, my favorite food is rice, I
love to watch movies, go shopping and attend all my children’s sporting events. I read only non-fiction books about
health, motivation and neuroscience.
I love the beach and visiting family in New York. I grew up on a small vegetable farm
where we would sell our vegetables to local grocery stores. But the most important fact is that I
love teaching physical education to all my students at Bryden!
