Dr. Markwardt To Retire After '14-'15 School Year
Aug. 25, 2014 – Superintendent Dr. Richard Markwardt will retire following the 2014-2015 school year and Assistant Superintendent Robert Hardis has accepted the Board's offer to be Beachwood's next superintendent, effective Aug. 1, 2015. 
Preschool Adds 'Young 5's' & 3-Year-Old Classes
July 14, 2014 - Due to increased demand and enrollment, Fairmount's Early Childhood Center added two new classes for the 2014-2015 school year: a new Young 5s class and an additional three-year-old class. Beachwood residents will receive priority enrollment. 
Refinancing of BHS Bonds Saves $2.3 Million
June 16, 2014 – After confirming its Aaa bond rating with Moody's, the Beachwood City School District will save more than $2.3 million by refunding its Build America Bonds used to finance a portion of the Beachwood High School construction project. 
Marketing Class Awards Grants to Innovative Businesses
May 28, 2014 – Five innovative companies that exhibited at Beachwood High School’s Entrovation showcase were awarded a total of $5,000 in grants through the event’s Innovative Entrepreneur of the Year Competition, sponsored by The Burton D. Morgan Foundation.  
BMS Track Team Sets State Records, Places 3rd
May 25, 2014 – The BMS girls track team set two state records while winning three relay events and one individual event at the Ohio 2014 Middle School Track & Field State Championships. The team finished third in the state overall. 
Beachwood's 5 Teams Finish Strong at DI Globals
May 24, 2014 – Three Beachwood teams placed in the top 15 in the world and two more Beachwood teams placed in the top 30 at the Destination Imagination 2014 Global Finals, held May 21-24, at the University of Tennessee. 
BMS Students Place in Top 1% at State Power of the Pen
May 23, 2014 – Yardena Carmi and Jinle Zhu placed in the top 1 percent of competitors at the state Power of the Pen tournament in May after each placed in the top 10 in their respective grades at the regional tournament in May. 
BHS Robotics Team Captures State Title
May 17, 2014 – The Beachwood High School robotics team – Team 695 – successfully defended its No. 1 state ranking by winning the 2014 OhioFIRST state championship on May 17. The team made major changes to its robot before selecting two other schools to join its title-seeking alliance.
