National Recognition for Beachwood High School
On Wednesday, Aug. 19, Beachwood High School was recognized by Newsweek in its annual ranking "America's Top High Schools." We are proud to be among the top 500 high schools out of more than 26,000 schools across the United States and, in particular, proud to be among the top few in the Cleveland-area. 
Rebecca Holthaus Named New Hilltop Principal
July 7, 2015 – Former Chagrin Falls Intermediate School principal Ms. Rebecca Holthaus was hired by Beachwood Schools to be principal at Hilltop Elementary School. Ms. Holthaus was Ohio's 2013 National Association of Secondary School Principals' Principal of the Year and led the Chagrin Falls Middle School when it earned National Blue Ribbon School status in 2010. 
Governor Cuts $1.3 Million of Beachwood's Annual Funding
July 6, 2015 – Governor Kasich vetoed a "hold harmless" provision in Ohio's biennial budget bill that will result in the loss of $1,272,313 in state education funding to Beachwood City Schools commencing Fiscal Year 2017.  
Robotics Team Places 4th at States, Wins Imagery Award
May 30, 2015 – Beachwood High School's robotics team placed fourth at the FIRST® Ohio State robotics championships after battling through the morning qualifying rounds and winning its quarterfinal elimination round match before falling in the semifinals. 
5th Graders Place 7th at Destination Imagination Globals
May 23, 2015 – A first-year team of Beachwood fifth graders placed seventh out of 77 teams in its category at the Destination Imagination Global Finals. "The Happy Group" team was one of three Beachwood teams that competed at Globals. 
Three BMS Writers Compete at State Power of the Pen
May 22, 2015 – Seventh graders Priyanka Shrestha and Ruth Brown and eighth grader Jing Jing Shen competed at the Power of the Pen State Tournament in May. Shen placed sixth in the state, while Shrestha won a "Best of the Best" award. 
School Libraries Win Awards, Host Author Festival
May 9, 2015 – The Ohio Educational Library Media Association named Beachwood Schools as the recipient of its 2015 Outstanding School Library District Award. Mrs. Maxwell was also named the recipient of OELMA's Information Technology Innovation Award. 
Beachwood JA Named Company of the Year
April 30, 2015 – Beachwood High School's Marketing/Junior Achievement class was named the Great Cleveland Junior Achievement Company of the Year at the JA Company Program Competition for its successful 100 Leaves public art project.
