BHS Journalists Win
Congratulations to BHS journalists, who cleaned up at the Ohio Scholastic Media Association Conference on April 1st, winning First Place Ranking Overall Web Site, Second Place Ranking Overall Newspaper, and 51 individual and team contest wins. 
5th and 6th Graders Dominate in Math Competition
While other 5th and 6th graders were sleeping in four teams of 5th graders and 3 teams of 6th graders were wielding calculators & pencils at University School Saturday morning. Yes, they rose early to participate in the Greater Cleveland Council of Teachers of Mathematics 5th & 6th grade math contest. For two and a half hours, they completed team events which involved problem solving, mental math, applications and a construction activity.

Hilltop Celebrates with heART
The 2016 Hilltop Arts Festival was a huge success! Beginning with Beachwood Police Officers on snare and  bagpipes, accompanied by two members of the Beachwood Band drumline, the morning continued with more than 15 visiting artists who took the time to engage and educate our students.  
BMS Students Shine in Competition
Over the weekend, two groups of BMS students competed in competitions in Northeast Ohio, the Power of the Pen and Mathcounts. 
Pension Liability Message to the Community
The Beachwood City Schools recently released its 28th Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR). In it, you will see a newly required disclosure as set forth by the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) regarding "unfunded pension liabilities." The pension liability is a "paper" entry that all public entities (e.g. school districts, city and county governments) throughout the country must disclose.
